PremNet Broadband Access Systems
The PremNet Broadband Access systems utilizes reliable,
private fiber, SONET/SDH or T3 circuits for high-speed backbone transport of LANs, data,
voice, and video traffic between PremNet nodes. Communication between nodes is executed
over a 100 to 155 Mbps fiber-optic data link, depending on the type of link modules (and
up to 200 to 310 Mbps with dual rings). Communication can also be accomplished by a T3
coaxial cable link at 45 Mbps. The connection schemes of these links determines the
network architecture.
The PremNet system multiplexes diverse data protocols and
then transports them to the next node in the system. The data is demultiplexed and either
distributed to the devices attached to the node or passed on to the next node in the
system, thereby establishing virtual connections.

| PremNet™ 5000
|

PremNet 5000 system consists of a PremNet™ 5000
Chassis configured with common modules and up to eight interface modules. Designed to
provide transparent transmission of information between nodes in a Wide Area Network
(WAN).
Modules include: link modules, switch modules, network
management modules (NMM and ENMM), and power supply modules. Interface modules are used to
transport different types of data through the system.

Provide complete network management for the high-speed
PremNet broadband access system. Two versions: Standard NMM-E2A with E2A alarm telemetry
support, and Enhanced NMM (ENMM) with E2A alarm telemetry and SNMP support.

| PremNet™ Unilink Link Modules
|
 |
Creates backbone connection and enables communication
between nodes at 100 Mbps rate over 20 TDM timeslots. Supports: singlemode and multimode
fiber, LED or laser transmitters, single-ring, multi-ring, and dual main ring network
configurations.

| PremNet™ Ethernet Interface Modules
|

Provides full bandwidth (10 Mbps) IEEE 802.3 Ethernet
remote connectivity between Ethernet segments or networks connected to the PremNet system.
Two models; non-filtering bridge or filtering bridge.

| PremNet™ Token Ring Interface Modules
|
 |
Provides full long-distance connectivity between Token Ring
networks connected to the PremNet system. Allows connection to remote Token Ring networks
across the PremNet backbone at native speed. Provides a "virtual" LAN, even
though the actual devices on this "LAN" can be separated by distances up to 50
km.

Transparent transport of RS-422 or V.35 traffic across
campus or metropolitan area network - (RS-422) Four DB-25 ports; software-configurable
data rates from 56 Kbps to 2048 Kbps on each port - (V.35) Four Winchester (M34) ports;
software-configurable data rates up to 2048 Kbps on each port DCE or DTE interface, with
DDS option.

Transparent transport of bipolar digital telephony signal
across campus or metropolitan-area networks. There are three versions of T1/E1 and two
versions of 4-wire.
