DS-3 Cell Interface Module (DS3)

The DS-3 Cell Bearing Module is a compact subassembly that occupies one of the slots available in the CX-1500 and CX-1540. The DS-3 module terminates a DS-3 facility interface, recovers clock, accesses the ATM cells within the payload, and sends these cells to the switching fabric. In the transmit direction the process is reversed. ATM cells are taken off the switching fabric and mapped into the payload, which is then properly formatted and clocked out on the DS-3 facility.
