Dual Synchronous Legacy Interface Module (DSL) The Synchronous Legacy Interface Module is the gateway for
synchronous non-ATM traffic (i.e. legacy traffic) into the ATM network. The DSL modules
provide the EIA-530 interface, convert the legacy traffic into ATM cells and establishes
the circuit emulation over the ATM network in AAL1 unstructured mode. The DSL supports
data rates from 16 Kbps to 2.048 Mbps in 8 Kbps increments. The adaptive clock recovery
software makes the DSL highly tolerant of network timing ambiguities. The DSL module is a
two port version that occupies one slot in the chassis.
