The STL module offers the user an excellent way in which to integrate T-1/E-1 voice or DS-0 data traffic, originating from a non-ATM Digital Switch or PCM channel bank to an ATM network. The STL module terminates four or eight T-1/E-1 interfaces, accesses the DS-0s within each T-1/E-1, converts individual voice DS-0s or individual/contiguous data DS-0s within the T-1/E-1 to individually addressed VPI's, convert the VPI's to AAL1 formatted cells and send these cells to the switching fabric. The four (4) port STL module occupies 1 slot and the eight (8) port STL module occupies 2 slots.
